Kisii: Probe as fire guts dormitory at school

Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed when fire gutted a dormitory at Nyakioba Mixed Secondary School in Kisii county.
There were no injuries.
The fire, whose cause is yet to be established, started on Friday.
Locals helped to put out the fire before the fire engine operators arrived at the scene.
Kisii county commissioner Tom Anjere raised concerns about the rising cases of fires and called for collaboration with the county government to curb the incidents.
“There is need for fire hydrants in every sub-county as well as fire engines,” he said.
Anjere also called for training of boarding masters and teachers on how to respond to fires.
