Bandari FC will host Gor Mahia at Kwale Stadium on 12
December, marking a temporary shift from their usual home ground at Mbaraki
Stadium.
Bandari FC CEO Tony Kibwana said the move is aimed at
enhancing security and improving crowd management.
“Sometimes it becomes overwhelming for us to control
the crowd during our home matches at Mbaraki Stadium. We expect a bigger crowd
especialy now its a festive season, so
we decided to take our matches to Kwale Stadium,” Kibwana explained.
Kwale Stadium recently received approval from the
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to host Kenya Premier League fixtures and will
now take center stage for the clash between Bandari FC and Gor Mahia.
“On Monday, we inspected the field together with head
coach Borji, and we are satisfied with its condition. We are confident it will
host a great match. The stadium is FKF-certified, and we will make it our
home,” Kibwana added.
He also confirmed that Kwale Stadium will host
Bandari’s home matches from late January 2026, when Mbaraki Stadium is
scheduled to undergo another round of renovations on its playing surface.
“We are yet to determine the exact date for the move,
but it will not be later than February next year. Renovations are necessary,
and giving the pitch adequate time will be beneficial,” he said.
Bandari FC have endured a difficult season,
registering only two wins and sitting 11th on the KPL table with 12 points. In
contrast, Gor Mahia lead the standings with 19 points.
This Sunday, the Dockers travel for an away fixture
against APS Bomet, while Gor Mahia will
host Murang’a Seal in Nairobi.
