Gor Mahia have the chance to further extend their lead at the top of the FKF PL as they host Mathare United this weekend at Nyayo National Stadium.
A slip from title rivals AFC Leopards in midweek following a 1-0
loss to KCB means K’Ogalo could go nine points clear at the summit with a win
against Mathare United.
The odds are firmly in their favor as their visitors have lost
their previous two matches, the most recent of which was a narrow 1-0 loss to
Shabana in midweek.
A win for Gor Mahia would see them sit on 49 points, putting daylight between them and AFC Leopards, whereas a positive result for
Mathare United would see them remain 11th but level on points with Nairobi
United, with 29 points just above them in 10th.
Meanwhile, title challengers AFC Leopards will look to make
amends for their mid-week slip-up as they host high-flying Shabana FC in a
possible match of the weekend contender.
Both teams sit on 40 points, with Ingwe with the superior goal
difference in 2nd as they continue to chase runaway leaders Gor Mahia.
Neither can afford a slip, as allowing Gor Mahia to further widen
the gap at the top would be detrimental to their title hopes this season.
Elsewhere champions Kenya Police will be looking to build on
their comfortable 2-0 win against Sofapaka as they host Bandari at the Police
Sacco Stadium.
A win for the hosts would see them climb to fourth on 37 points, whereas a win for Bandari would see them climb above their opponents in the
table into 5th on 35 points.
Muranga Seal will be looking to recover from their last two
losses as they host Posta Rangers, who will also be looking for a win following
two consecutive games on the losing end.
Despite their recent form looking similar, the two opponents’ situation in the table is miles apart, with Muranga Seal sitting 6th on 33
points, while Posta Rangers are mid-table in 13th with 24 points
A win for the visitors will see them rise as high as 11th in 27
points, whereas a Joseph Irungu-led Muranga Seal will look to climb to 4th as
the hunt for a big three points continues this weekend.
