St. Antony Kitale hockey head coach Kevin Lugalia says they are prepared for a quick transition after losing five first-team players who finished their high school education last year.

Lugalia says they already have their replacement, who is well-versed with the team's philosophy, thanks to the good systems the school has put in place.

“We are ready for the transition; we have a system that is well played down to fill in the gaps. We players clear their high school education, and now we have players who are well versed with the system and understand the team’s philosophy,” said Lugalia.

He has credited the players’ good physical condition ahead of the term one school games to a great program they had during the long holidays.

“The players are very fit; they trained during holidays and even when were home, they had their personal programs so I don’t have any worry about their physical condition,” added Lugalia

The former national champions have, in the last three years, lost to their fierce rivals, Musingu High School, but the veteran tactician says they will approach this year in a different style to reclaim the title from the reigning champions.

“Musingu has brought in good competition in the last three years, but it is not just about them; the standard of the game has improved from sub-county to the nationals, so we will take one step at a time,” he added.
