Kuresoi North couple found dead in suspected murder-suicide

Local residents said the man, aged about 65, is suspected to have killed his wife with a kitchen knife before taking his own life.

Speaking to Chamgei FM, village elders Joseph Kurui and Robert Kiget said the woman was allegedly attacked in the couple’s bedroom and later found covered with a blanket on the bed.

They said the man was later found dead after hanging himself inside the house.

Neighbours told the radio station that the couple had previously been involved in family disputes and that they were shocked by the incident after reports of a confrontation emerged on the night of the deaths.

The man was described as a father of five, with the youngest said to be a Form Three student.

Pastor Simon Cheruiyot of AGC Bygam, who was identified as a neighbour, condemned the incident and urged families to avoid turning to illicit alcohol when dealing with domestic challenges.

The bodies were moved to the Molo sub-county mortuary as police probe the circumstances around the deaths.
