Kwale Governor Achani questioned for exceeding Ksh.45M to build residence

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani was questioned on Wednesday, February 4, about the high cost of the construction of the governor's official residence in the county, which has far exceeded the Ksh.45 million capped by the Senate.
Achani, however, defended herself, saying court cases which had dragged on for years had led to the ballooning cost due to legal fees and interests.
This comes as Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who also appeared before the Senate County Public Accounts Committee, found himself on the receiving end over the lack of a title deed for land where the governor's official residence is under construction.
