Kenya Police Bullets head coach David Vijago has termed their 3-0 win over Ulinzi Starlets as a major motivation in their bid to defend the Kenyan Women Premier League title this season.
The ‘Afande
Derby’ at the Ulinzi Sports Complex saw goals from Lydiah Akoth, Terry Engesha
and Emily Moranga in the 39th, 63rd and 66th minutes respectively, earning
Police maximum points and cementing their supremacy at the top of the 12-team
league standings with 52 points—opening an eight-point gap over second-placed
Ulinzi.
Trinity Starlets
sit third with 40 points, while four-time champions Vihiga Queens and Kibera
Soccer Women complete the top five with 36 and 28 points respectively.
Speaking to
Citizen Digital, the former Kibera Soccer Women coach, who took charge of the
Police Sacco Stadium-based side on October 1, 2025, replacing Beldine Odemba,
hailed her charges for the win and insisted they are focused on winning their
remaining fixtures.
“It was a very
crucial win for us and a huge motivation as we push to win the title for the
third time in a row. The energy, resilience and togetherness in the team are
some of the reasons behind our fine form this season.
I am urging my
players to stay focused and win the remaining fixtures because we want to
retain the title and earn another chance to represent the country at the CECAFA
Women Club Championship,” said Vijago.
Elsewhere at
Nyang’ori High School, Vihiga Queens climbed to fourth place following a narrow
1-0 win over Kayole Starlets, thanks to Anita Namatta’s 13th-minute strike.
