Laikipia: Three police officers killed, 6 injured in bandit attack

Three officers were killed and six others injured on Thursday in a bandit attack at the Laikipia Nature Conservancy in Laikipia County. 

According to a police report on the incident, the officers were on patrol when they were ambushed at a place called Kenya Mpya where there was a barricade on the road.

A shoot-out ensued and an armored personnel carrier (APC)was sent for reinforcement but it overturned leading to four injuries and two fatalities.

The police report indicated that out of the six police officers who were injured, two were wounded from gunshots while four sustained injuries as a result of the accident  involving the APC.

The injured have since been evacuated to Nairobi.

"The gunshot/accident injuries; six in number, were evacuated by a patrol team to Ngoisusu multi-agency camp where they were given first aid and they were airlifted to Nanyuki airstrip where they were connected to an AMREF aircraft to Nairobi for treatment and management," reads the polic report.
