Kenya’s most decorated female boxer, Liz Andiego, has officially stepped into the professional ranks, marking a new chapter in an already illustrious career.

The 37-year-old will make her professional debut on February 27, 2026, in Nairobi, where she is set to face Tanzania’s Chiku Iddi in a four-round super middleweight contest at Mass House along Ngong Road.

Andiego has signed with Kalakoda Promotions, confirming her transition from amateur dominance to the paid ranks.

Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) Secretary-General David Munuhe revealed that the federation has approved her move, while maintaining her place in the national team setup.

“Andiego approached us requesting permission to turn professional. We agreed, as it will give her more fight time,” Munuhe said.

Kalakoda Promotions Promoter Greg Cox also confirmed her inclusion on the February 27 fight card, expressing confidence ahead of her pro bow.

“She has signed her fight contract, and we are excited to see her make her first appearance as a professional,” Cox noted.

Andiego welcomed the new opportunity, thanking BFK for supporting her decision to compete in both professional and amateur boxing — a dual pathway now permitted by the International Boxing Association (IBA).

The seasoned boxer has long struggled with a shortage of local opponents. Her last bout on Kenyan soil came in 2021, when she stopped Metrine Sagina in the opening round of a light-heavyweight clash at the Jamal Cup in Charter Hall.

“If I go on like this, I’ll suffer from ring rust,” Andiego admitted.

A double African Championships medalist, Andiego made her international debut in 2010 and remains unbeaten locally. She also holds the distinction of being the first East African female boxer to compete at the Olympic Games in 2012.
