One more body has been recovered in the ongoing rescue mission in Mai Mahiu, Nakuru County where raging floods killed over 60 people after a dam in the area burst its banks sweeping away settlements.

Nakuru County Commissioner Lyford Kibaara said the recovery now raises the number of confirmed fatalities to 61.

The body was recovered on Monday evening during the mission being led by officers from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and National Youth Service (NYS).

Twenty-nine more people are still unaccounted for as the search continues.
