Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu has urged the Kenya National Union of Nurses officials to direct their members to report back to work, promising to address their grievances by Thursday next week.

Speaking at Afya House on Friday morning, Mailu said nurses would receive their service allowances as earlier agreed.

At the same time, the CS lamented that it is unfortunate that Kenyans are suffering due to lack of medical care in hospitals following the stalemate.

This comes as nurses in Tana River, Migori and Elgeyo-Marakwet Counties downed their tools over delayed payment.

The nurses are demanding payment of allowances agreed with the Council of Governors and the Ministry of Health in December last year.
