A 70-year-old man was on Sunday night killed by an elephant at Abaganda area in Tana River County.

Abdi Haji Ali was reportedly returning home from grazing his livestock when an elephant attacked him, trampling him to death.

Confirming the incident, Tana Delta Deputy County Commissioner Mike Kimoko urged residents to be careful while going about their business because elephants pass through the area as they go to the river.

Elsewhere, two people, a man and a woman, lost their lives after the motorbike they were on was hit by a bus at Muraka Centre along the Kisumu-Kakamega Road on Monday morning.

Eyewitnesses told Citizen Digital that the bus and the motorbike were both headed to Kakamega when the accident occurred, adding that the woman’s body was dragged for about 200 metres by the bus before it stopped.

The driver and conductor of the bus escaped soon after the accident.

The residents are now appealing to authorities to put bumps on the road, saying the spot has claimed many lives.
