A 22-year-old man died of Thursday evening after he was allegedly electrocuted at Koyundi village in Migori County.

Speaking to radio Ramogi, Christopher Chembugwe, the father to the deceased said his son; Douglas Shikade, was riding a motorcycle when he crashed into loosely hanging electricity cables attached to a pole that had collapsed following rainstorm experienced in the area. 

He said the son died at the hospital where he had been rushed for treatment.

Village elder Hassan Gombania appealed to the government to investigate the matter and take necessary legal action so that the family of the deceased can be get justice.

He also urged Kenya Power to ensure that they regularly check the status of their power line to avoid accidents

The elder said some of the poles holding the power cables are very old and should be replaced to avert such possible accidents in future.
