Man killed after fight with witch doctor in Kitui

A 65-year-old man has been confirmed dead after chaos arose during his visit to an 80-year-old sangoma in Mathuki, Kitui County.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) say Muthui Mwenga had gone to consult the healer during which an altercation ensued over an unspecified matter.

The scuffle caught the attention of neighbours who joined in to rescue the witch doctor, who is said to be highly regarded in the locality.

“On arrival, they found him writhing in pain after being attacked on the head by the client-turned-assailant,” stated DCI.

Muthui was beaten with household weapons by the residents, killing him on the spot.
