Man, wife among 5 dead in road accident while travelling home for Christmas

A man and his wife are among five people killed on Tuesday morning following an accident at Mwiwondwe bridge on the Ekero-Buyangu road.

Five other people, including children, were seriously injured during the accident that occurred when the vehicle they were travelling in rolled on the bridge.

The ten were cramped in a Toyota Wish on their way to Busia for the festive season.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, area police boss Peter Kattam warned motorists to observe traffic rules during this period.

Bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to the St. Marys Mumias Hospital mortuary.
