DCI officers are pursuing a police officer based in Busia County over the suspected killing of his estranged wife at a hotel in Silibwet Trading Centre, Bomet County.

According to Bomet County Criminal Investigations Officer Emmanuel Ogao, the officer allegedly lured the woman to the hotel after convincing her to reconcile, secured a room for the meeting and is accused of strangling her to death before abandoning her body at the scene.

Police say the suspect later allegedly called some of his relatives to inform them about the incident, prompting an alert that led officers to the scene where the body was discovered.

A source said the deceased, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher from the Olenguruone area of Nakuru County, had been staying with her parents in Bomet after leaving her matrimonial home due to what was described as a toxic relationship.

The scene was documented before the body was moved to Longisa Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
