The Migori County Government has announced plans to work more closely with local businesses to strengthen the scale, organisation and economic impact of this year’s Piny Luo and Migori County Cultural Extravaganza.

During a forum chaired by Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko, traders, entrepreneurs and sector representatives discussed how the business community would take part in the festival’s fifth edition.

Ayacko noted that the annual event has grown into a significant cultural and economic activity, drawing large numbers of visitors and increasing demand in hospitality, transport, creative industries and local trade.

He said the county aims to engage private-sector players earlier to help improve planning and ensure local businesses benefit from the increased activity.

The governor also outlined planned festival programmes, logistical arrangements and available opportunities for exhibitors, service providers and suppliers.

According to Ayacko, the administration is focused on supporting a business environment that can sustain economic activity before, during and after the event.

Business representatives at the meeting welcomed the early engagement, saying it would help them prepare for expected increases in demand.

This year’s Piny Luo and Migori County Cultural Extravaganza will include cultural performances, art displays, food exhibitions and heritage showcases from the Luo community and neighbouring regions.
