As the Kenyan scouting community prepares for its national Founders Day observance on February 22nd in Nyeri, the Miss Commonwealth platform is highlighting a new mentorship framework designed to bridge the gap between youth leadership and community service.

The initiative, dubbed the "Glamour Scouts," was prominently showcased on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

The event was headlined by Miss Teen Commonwealth Kenya 2025, Cindy Wambui, a student at Gachoire Girls High School who currently serves as a Goodwill Culture and Charity Ambassador.

Operating under the theme "Empowering Young People to Promote Dialogue and Peaceful Communities," Wambui engaged in intergenerational mentorship alongside seasoned scout leaders, including Truphena Muthoni, HSC, the Guinness World Record holder for tree hugging and a dedicated climate champion.

The partnership between the Westlands Sub-County scouts and the Miss Commonwealth Kenya chapter aims to provide a practical framework for the "Leadership in Diverse Commonwealth Colours" agenda.

This non-commercial platform allows younger Sungura and Chipukizi scouts to receive guidance from senior figures, while Wambui provides peer-to-peer mentorship for Jasiri and Mwamba scouts.

Speaking on her role and the values underpinning the movement, Cindy Wambui stated:

"True leadership isn't about being perfect; it's about having the humility to look around and truly understand the people and the world around you. By walking alongside my fellow scouts, I am learning that our shared values—duty to God, country, and community—are what truly unlock opportunities for a prosperous future. It is an honor to mentor the younger scouts while learning from the resilience of those who came before us."

This year’s efforts are anchored in the 2026 Commonwealth theme, "Unlocking Opportunities Together for a Prosperous Commonwealth," which advocates for the removal of barriers to create inclusive pathways for all citizens. By placing youth at the helm of community and national agendas, the Miss Teen Chapter seeks to foster an environment where young adults are integral to the decision-making process.

To ensure that Wambui’s social obligations do not interfere with her education, a robust support system has been established. This coordination involves the Sub-County Scout Commissioner, the National Director of Miss Commonwealth Kenya, and the administration of Gachoire Girls High School, ensuring that her academic performance remains the top priority.

The momentum from the Runda event is now shifting toward the primary national celebration scheduled for February 22nd in Nyeri. The location holds profound international significance as the burial site of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the global Scouting movement.

By centering the 2026 activities at his final resting place, the Kenya Scouts Association and the Miss Commonwealth platform intend to reaffirm their shared commitment to discipline, emotional intelligence, and the scouting value system.
