Media personality Grace Ekirapa has opened up about the ups and downs that come with parenting, adding that mom guilt is a challenge she has to constantly deal with.
Speaking on her YouTube series dubbed 'Cradle love', where she holds chats with other mothers, Ekirapa said she once slapped her child's feet in a subconscious fit of anger and immediately regretted it.
Ekirapa had hosted fellow mothers, Corazon Kwamboka and Tatiana Karanja and shared that she was trying to get some sleep in preparation for a video shoot the following day and her daughter, Jasmine Ariana, had been up for hours and she just wouldn't sleep and without realising it, she found herself slapping her child's feet and immediately regretted it.
"I was sleeping and Jasmine was kicking me and I was like, Jasmine can you stop kicking me... she wanted to be held, she was pushing me... so I slapped her feet then she slept... then I started crying, asking why did I beat my baby... she didn't do anything, she didn't even know what she was doing," Ekirapa said.
Kwamboka weighed in, urging Ekirapa not to judge herself for the incident, adding, "It happens, every mom has once in a while done something... my son is very playful.. he can even throw a glass on your feet and you find yourself pushing him and you'll have that mom guilt, but it happens."
During the episode, Ekirapa also called out mothers who bully their fellow mothers on social media.
Kwamboka spoke about her son's adenoids that make him have a running nose often and sometimes when she would post a video on social media, she would get women commenting that she should wipe his nose.
Ekirapa also spoke about how some people called her daughter obese.
