MP Caleb Amisi alleges NIS infiltration in Linda Mwananchi to spark divisions ahead of 2027 polls

Speaking in PAG and Kingdom City churches in Diani, Kwale County on Sunday Amisi said the movement was initially formed as a platform for the younger generation, with its founders backing Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to lead the political initiative, but the entry of older politicians later triggered disagreements and competing political interests.

The Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) claimed that several leaders within the movement, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, were not part of the faction's original formation.

Amisi alleged that the continued expansion of the movement created an opportunity for government operatives to infiltrate its structures and fuel divisions among its leaders.

“I warned them that the more you continue to welcome other people, that is how you unknowingly welcome NIS,” Amisi said.

His allegations come amid growing disagreements within Linda Mwananchi over its leadership and the coalition it will use to contest the 2027 elections. 

"And if Sifuna is not going to lead the movement we are going to take it over and lead it to the right direction" he said.

Amisi also accused political actors of derailing the movement's original objective of providing a platform for a younger generation of leaders.

He asserted that the younger generation will not allow any attempt to steal votes in the 2027 contest, arguing that increased political awareness among the youth would make electoral manipulation unfeasible.

He said young Kenyans will use digital platforms to monitor and document proceedings at polling stations, including the counting of votes, to give a real time monitoring of the electoral process.

The PM leader also criticised UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar over his recent remarks concerning alleged “ghost” or dead voters, questioning the integrity of the electoral process.

"IEBC, you are going to officiate a historic election, this will be the first time we will have a one term president and chairman Ethokon be careful because you are going to stand between a historic transition" he added.

Amisi's remarks come as opposition parties and political movements intensify preparations for the 2027 General Election, with electoral reforms, the credibility of the voters' register and the security of the vote emerging as a major political contention.
