On Thursday, November 27, the victim, Omariba Moriasi, 36, reported the matter to the police and filed an assault case claiming that the lawmaker attacked him over a love triangle.
The CCTV footage from the food joint showed a man walking into the restaurant and taking a seat directly facing where the victim was having breakfast on Thursday morning.
A few moments later, a man identified as the Kisii County MP enters and heads straight to the table where Omariba was seated and begins assaulting him.
The footage captured a confrontation that lasted several minutes as the other patrons attempted to separate the two.
Omariba said that the lawmaker assaulted him, questioning why he had interfered in his private affairs.
"He stormed in directly to me shouting ati lazima utaniheshimu.... wachana na girlfriend yangu," he stated.
Omariba said that he suffered injuries after that incident.
His lawyers have questioned why the MP is still walking free despite the complaint being filed the same day at Kisii Central Police Station.
"We filed this matter on Thursday, and we are asking why the member of parliament is still walking free. We have all the P3 forms."
The lawyers claim that their client is in danger and that the lawmaker who assaulted him may be looking to cause further harm.
