Muhiddin expects an electrifying Mashemeji Derby

The 98th derby brings along mixed experiences from the two most decorated clubs in the country thanks to their huge following.

Gor were shockingly thrashed 4-1 by bottom-placed APS Bomet last week while Ingwe registered a 1-1 draw against Kariobangi Sharks, their fifth in seven matches.

According to Muhiddin, while Leopards are suffering from blunt striking force, Gor are weak in defense as witnessed in Bomet loss.

“Leopards have registered many draws and this translates to a blunt striking force while Gor Mahia are suffering from a leaking defense after what happened last week in the hands of Bomet.

"But this is football and in a derby it’s very difficult to measure results by saying who is on form and who is out of form because of its unpredictability,” says Muhiddin.

After nine matches played this season, Gor have won six, drawn once and lost twice while Leopards have won three, five draws and lost once.

The former Ingwe coach has also singled out Gor to be under pressure to bounce back to winning ways after what happened last week while they look to thwart a possibility of two losses in a row

“Leopards are coming into this derby as underdogs while Gor Mahia come as the team under intense pressure because of what happened in the hands of Bomet. I don’t think Gor will accept to lose two matches in a row which complicates the whole equation who will come out victorious,” Twahir told the reporter on phone from Mombasa.

Leopards will look to cut Gor Mahia point-gap to only two points with a must win-assignment while the record 21 league title winners seek to extend their lead at the top.
