In a series of tweets, Muhoozi who was recently promoted to the rank of full general caused a diplomatic storm with threats on invading Nairobi.
He had also questioned why Kenya’s former President Uhuru Kenyatta handed over power to William Ruto instead of seeking a third term as president.
Speaking about Muhoozi’s conduct, President Museveni now says that “Africa has a lot of problems and tweeting is not the most serious.”
Uganda’s Head of State further explained that his son is good at his army job.
“Muhoozi is a very good officer in army things. Army has got all sorts of problems …corruption, many of the armies are killed by corruption. Stealing resources of the army, poor training, and so on,” he said in an interview with KTN News.
He further argued that it is not easy to get people who are 100% correct, and this does not only apply to Muhoozi.
“If somebody is good in something, but makes a mistake in something else, how would you handle it?”
In an earlier statement made on October 5, Museveni had asked Kenyans for forgiveness over the tweets sent by Muhoozi.
“It is not correct for public officers, be they civilian or military, to comment or interfere in any way, in the internal affairs of brother countries,” Museveni said.
However, Muhoozi would later issue an apology to President William Ruto.
“I have never had any problem with Afande Ruto. If I made a mistake anywhere, I ask him to forgive me as his young brother. God bless East Africa!” he wrote in a tweet on October 13.
In his latest controversial tweet, Museveni’s son has hinted on seeking the Presidency in the country’s next election.
“To the Ugandan opposition, after my father, I will defeat you badly in any election. Ugandans love me more than they'll ever love you.”
