Ngetich defends Sirikwa Classic title
Agnes Ng'etich crosses the finish line to win the Sirikwa Classic World Cross country title in Eldoret.

World Cross country champion Agnes Ngetich made true her promise and defended her title at the 5th edition of Sirikwa Classic World Cross country title in Eldoret.
Fans favourite Ngetich, crossed the line at 32:28 as Mercy
Chepkemoi came second finishing at 33:42 and Catherine Manangole closed the
podium at 33:51.
“It's just like last time, the climate was the same and I
loved the atmosphere. Everyone was cheering on me and it gave me the motivation
to continue running. I was not feeling lonely because the fans were in every
corner, said Ngetich
Ngetich said she had waited for the medal for long: “Cross
country is something I've loved since I was young. I don't have any program at
the moment and will speak to my coach to know the way forward” added Ngetich.
In men’s race, John Korir emerged the winner after clocking
29:34 as defending champion and bronze medalist.
Korir was followed closely in second position by Amos
Kiprotich who crossed the line at 29:46 tying with Silas Senchura. Daniel Simiu
Ebenyo finished fifth position.
Korir said he was not expecting to win the race: “It’s my
first cross country, I’m feeling good and I came here to see how my shape is
and I’m happy. My target is Boston Marathon and I participated in this race to
see how my body would respond.”
