National Super
League side 3K FC head coach Francis Chege has partly blamed the team’s defeat
to Soy United on the poor state of the Eldoret Showground pitch, saying the
uneven surface made it difficult for his players to execute their usual passing
game.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Chege said the team has
already shifted focus to quick recovery after falling 1–0 to Soy United in a
closely contested NSL match on Sunday.
The Embu-based
side, which has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, expressed frustration
with the match conditions, which they believe disrupted their rhythm and
overall performance.
Chege also
lamented missed chances from his forwards, noting that a lack of composure in
front of goal cost them vital points.
Despite the
setback, the coach remained upbeat, promising to address the mistakes and
sharpen the team’s finishing ahead of their midweek assignment.
“We are going
back to training immediately to correct where we went wrong,” he said, looking
ahead to Wednesday’s fixture against Kibera Black Stars.
The loss has not
significantly affected the club’s league standing. 3K remain third on the NSL
table with 18 points—five behind leaders Migori Youth and just one point behind
second-placed Mombasa United. With the season still wide open, Chege believes
his side is firmly in the promotion race.
As they prepare
for a tough clash with Kibera Black Stars, 3K will be hoping to turn Sunday’s
frustration into renewed motivation as they push to keep their Premier League promotion ambitions on track.
