Days after the culmination of the 2024/25 National Super League season, 3K Football Club assistant coach Moses Munene has challenged national men's football team head coach Bennie McCarthy to source for talent from the second-tier league.
Describing the NSL as the most competitive league in the country, Munene argued that the NSL is packed with top-tier talent that deserves recognition and should be given opportunities in the national team, Harambee Stars.

His call comes as the nation prepares to co-host this year's Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) alongside Uganda and Tanzania in August.
"I challenge our national team head coach and his technical bench to come down and look for talent from the National Super League because there is pure and untapped talent in this league.

"The Premier League comprises of hard workers but raw talent is found in the NSL," Munene told Citizen Digital.
However, even as Munene calls for attention from the national team, the National Super League continues to face financial challenges, with the tactician urging the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to secure a sponsor for it.
"The only thing making the NSL difficult is the lack of sponsorship. Things could be seamless if the federation found a sponsor for our league because many teams keep dishing out walkovers due to financial constraints. It's not right for a national league to witness such cases," Munene added.
After a long and demanding season, Nairobi United won the 2024/2025 National Super League title as APS Bomet finished second.

The two teams earned themselves automatic entries into next season's FKF Premier League with Naivas seeking a promotion ticket against Posta Rangers in the promotion-relegation playoff.
