Nyamira: Outrage as gang terrorizes villagers in wave of theft, assault

Residents of several villages in Nyamira county have raised the alarm over rising cases of theft and rape as criminals invade locals’ homes and businesses.
In the latest incident, the criminals made their way to homesteads and raped two women while threatening them with crude weapons.
The criminals proceed to steal valuables from victims’ homes.
The gang gains entry to houses by breaking door locks, while some destroy roofing and gain entry.
The gang has also been targeting markets and stealing traders’ items.
One trader who sought anonymity for fear of being targeted further, said, “They stole sewing machines and materials and left shops in disarray. The police needs to act to curb the gang.”
The gang has also been targeting builders constructing their village homes and making away with materials, from cement to metal.
Police visited the scene and launched a probe.
