Football Kenya Federation National Super League side Nzoia Sugar are determined to extend their recent winning run when they host Equity in a crucial league encounter this weekend.
The Bungoma-based outfit heads into the fixture in high spirits following a narrow 1-0 victory over Kisumu Allstars last weekend, a result that helped them climb two places on the league standings.
Speaking ahead of the clash, head coach Charles Odero believes his team is ready for the challenge despite acknowledging the quality within the Equity squad.
The tactician noted that Equity managed to win the first-leg encounter earlier in the season, but he insists his players are motivated to turn the tables this time around.
Odero expressed confidence that playing at home will give Nzoia an advantage, adding that the team has prepared thoroughly for the match and is eager to secure maximum points in front of their supporters.
"They are a good side despite this being their first season in NSL, they have good players. We are aiming for a win because they beat us 1-0 in the first-leg encounter, to our supporters, we urge them to rally behind the team at the weekend, and we promise not to disappoint them." Odero said.
Currently sitting ninth in the table with 33 points, Nzoia Sugar will be aiming to maintain their upward momentum as the competition intensifies in the second half of the season.
With both teams looking to strengthen their positions in the standings, the weekend clash is expected to provide a competitive showdown as Nzoia seek revenge while Equity aims to complete a season double over their hosts at Sudi Stadium.
