Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and a host of ODM Members of Parliament have strongly defended former Prime Minister Raila Odinga against growing speculation about his health, calling out opposition leaders for spreading misinformation.

Speaking at the Sigand Nyi Nam event held in Siaya on Sunday, Governor Wanga criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for what she termed as divisive politics.

“That opposition is imploding because one man called Gachagua is such a divisive character, he can not bring people together. Baba is a uniter, Gachagua is a divider,” said Wanga.

The governor went on to warn Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other opposition-allied leaders.

“This man is insulting even those meant to be his partners. The other day he said Matiangi is a boardroom person who cannot be a president,” she said.

Women leaders in attendance condemned the opposition for what they termed as deliberate misinformation.

Kisumu West MP Rosa Buyu criticized Gachagua, accusing him of exploiting Odinga’s health for political gain.

“Raila Odinga can not be his agenda if he wants to rule this country. Can he tell Kenyans what he wants to do for this country? Talking about Raila’s ill health…who told him Raila is sick?” Buyu posed.

“Raila is a glue that holds this country together. Without Raila, this country would not have been peaceful as it is today.”

On their part Siaya Woman Representative Christine Ombaka and her Migori Counterpart Fatuma Mohamed equally condemned Gachagua, emphasizing the importance of responsible leadership.

They warned that using someone’s health as a political tool is not only unethical but also dangerous.

Speaking separately in Uguja constituency, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi urged Kenyans to pray for Odinga’s quick recovery.
