ODM leader Dr Oburu Odinga has said the party will engage in negotiations with like-minded political formations ahead of the 2027 General Election, arguing that ODM’s path to power lies in strategic coalitions.

Speaking in Migori during the party’s Linda ground rally at Posta Grounds, Odinga said he has been mandated by ODM to initiate talks with parties interested in forming the next government.

He said ODM is also exploring possible discussions with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) over a power-sharing arrangement, assuring supporters that the party’s 10-point agenda will be reviewed and fully implemented.

ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga said the party is open to any viable coalition that would position it to take power in 2027, warning that failure to implement the 10-point agenda could create political bottlenecks.

Leaders including Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina also spoke at the rally, with Junet signalling interest in the deputy president’s seat in any future coalition.

ODM is expected to convene a National Delegates Council (NDC) meeting on March 27 to review progress and chart the way forward.

Wanga and Odinga dismissed claims that the party’s agenda and engagement with UDA could jeopardise the broad-based government arrangement, insisting ODM remains focused and united.
