Nairobi City Stars defender Kevin ‘Chumsy’ Okumu has joined FKF Premier League side, KCB FC on a one-year deal after cutting ties with Simba wa Nairobi.

Okumu replaces Baraka Badi who left the club for Kenya Police FC where he will also be drafted into the police force.

The marauding right-back signed his contract on Monday as confirmed by Nairobi City Stars CEO Patrick Korir.

“Yes, it is true. Chumsy is now a KCB player. Everything has been agreed upon and he is now a Banker. The club immediately reached out when they read that he is available, the negotiations were smooth and he has completed his transfer to KCB,” Korir told Citizen Digital.

In an earlier interview, Chumsy heaped praise on Simba wa Nairobi for giving him a chance at an early age.

He featured for the club between 2016 and 2020 before leaving for Wazito FC in 2020. After a brief stint with Wazito, he returned to the club initially on a loan deal before the move was made permanent.

“City Stars nurtured me from a very young age, they gave me a chance to play top flight football straight from high school and it has basically been my home. To the management, the technical bench and the players that I played with, I will always be grateful,” a thankful Okumu said.

He becomes KCB’s sixth signing after Harun Mwale, Danson Chetambe, Francis Kahiro, Bryne Omondi and Maurice Ojwang.
