One arrested as NACADA seizes counterfeit alcohol worth Ksh.3M in Narok

The operation also led to the arrest of a notorious distributor believed to be a key player in the town’s underground alcohol network.

Authorities recovered drinks bearing fraudulent Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps, now set for laboratory analysis to determine their potentially dangerous composition.

NACADA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Anthony Omerikwa, said the raid capped a sustained crackdown targeting illicit brews in remote areas of the county. The operation also extended to a border town suspected of being a conduit for uncustomed alcohol from a neighbouring country.

"The game is up for these merchants of death," Dr Omerikwa declared. "We are moving up the chain. Let this be a stern warning to licensed manufacturers complicit in these syndicates: we will not hesitate to suspend, cancel your licenses, and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law."

He added that the intensified operations were tied to heightened festive season surveillance, stressing that NACADA’s goal is to protect communities from toxic substances during the holidays and beyond.
