One killed, three injured as bandits attack village

One person was shot dead while three others are nursing injuries at Kapsowar Hospital in Elgeyo Marakwet after being ambushed by suspected bandits in Chesongoch area, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
According to Richard Kiyap, a resident of the area, the four men were riding on a motorcycle heading home after attending a ceremony.
Deputy County Commissioner of Marakwet East, Erick Mulevu, said that the middle-aged men were waylaid by the attackers, who shot at them before escaping with their motorcycle along River Kerio.
He further added that it has not yet been established whether the attackers were from the Pokot or Marakwet communities, although investigations had already been launched.
This latest attack comes just a few days after a motorcycle operator was attacked on Christmas Day by suspected robbers in Marell Area, Bungoma County.
Anthony Wamalwa, who has been a boda boda operator for 10 years, was attacked using crude weapons by unknown people who almost gorged out his eye with the thieves escaping with his motorcycle and money.
