Alpha Onyango’s goal in the 19th minute against Kakamega Homeboyz was enough to see the record premier league champions Gor Mahia move to the top of the league in one of the four matches that were played Wednesday afternoon.
Gor had
gone for three games without a win having lost 4-1 to APS Bomet a few weeks
ago, a 1-0 defeat to arch rivals AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby and a
barren draw against Bandari FC but with victory against Homeboyz, the record
champions are now top of the log with 23 points from 12 league matches.
Earlier,
Kevin Otiende’ goal in the 10th minute was enough to give Nairobi
United maximum points against Tusker FC in the mid-week fixtures early kick
off.
Despite
the win, United who have played three
games less than the rest of the teams remain at position 11 in the league
standings with 16 points after 10 games while Tusker FC drop to fourth with 21
points from 14 games .
In
another match Dennis Okoth's goal in the 58th minute gave Mathare United
victory against struggling Sofapaka to
ensure they remain in the second position as ‘Slum Boys’ moved to the tenth position in the league
standings with 18 points from 14 matches.
In Gusii
