Led by Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua, the team renewed its attacks on the Social Health Authority (SHA), alleging that companies operating the system are linked to the Health CS.
Gachagua described the SHA as a “fraudulent scheme,” claiming that Duale is a key facilitator.
He further alleged that consortium firms associated with the CS have received millions of shillings in payments, even as public hospitals continue to face mounting unpaid bills and operational challenges.
The former Deputy President also accused President William Ruto’s administration of dismantling the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to pave the way for the SHA, which he claimed was designed to enable the misappropriation of public funds.
In addition, Gachagua alleged that the system’s IT oversight has been moved outside the country, claiming that key monitoring functions are being handled from Dubai, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.
He further argued that despite increased taxation, Kenyans are not receiving commensurate services, alleging that public funds are being misused while patients are still required to purchase essential medical supplies, including reagents, out-of-pocket in public hospitals.
DAP-Kenya party leader Eugene Wamalwa and Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi echoed the concerns, stating that a section of Kenyans have lost confidence in the current administration and are increasingly calling for change.
