Shabana FC have confirmed the return of Osborne Monday as the club’s First Assistant Coach, marking a key step in stabilising their technical bench following recent changes.

Alongside him, interim coach Andrew Ongwae has been appointed as the Second Assistant Ccoach.

Monday’s appointment comes in the wake of the departure of Peter Okidi, who left the club on March 17, 2026. With no substantive head coach in place yet, Monday is expected to take charge of technical responsibilities on the bench, effectively steering team operations in the interim period.

The former Harambee Stars midfielder brings a wealth of experience to the role, both as a player and a coach. A CAF B licensed tactician, Monday is no stranger to the Shabana setup, having previously served as a video analyst and second assistant coach under Okidi.

His familiarity with the club’s structure and playing philosophy is seen as a major advantage during this transitional phase.

Before rejoining Shabana, Monday had a brief stint as head coach of Murang'a Seal, where he impressed by guiding the side to a 10-match unbeaten run in the 2025/26 season. However, his tenure ended a week ago following a heavy FKF Cup defeat to Mfalme FC.

His coaching résumé also includes developmental roles, notably with the Kariobangi Legends youth team and the World Sports Health Football Academy, highlighting his strong grounding in youth development.

As a player, Monday earned 27 caps for the Kenya national team and featured for top local sides including Tusker FC and Mathare United, alongside stints abroad.

Shabana will now look to build stability as they continue their search for a permanent head coach.
