Parent dies after collapsing during a school visit in Siaya

The Pala Kobong’ primary school fraternity in Rarieda sub-county was left tongue tied and in utter shock after a parent collapsed and died inside the school on Friday evening.

Peter Mito Owino, a dad in his early 50s, is believed to have gone to school to check on his child’s performance when he collapsed.

The parent had just arrived at the school and was headed towards the staffroom when he fell down, according to Rarieda sub-county Director of Education Mr. Elija Adie.

When students outside for break noticed him, they alerted their teachers, who rushed to check on him only to discover he was already dead.

Mr. Adie, who confirmed the strange incident, said that a the school deputy head teacher raised alarm, which drew the attention of many people, including the principal of their neighboring Pala Kobong secondary school.

He added that they contacted the police from the Aram police station to the location before removing the body to the Madiany hospital morgue.
