Churches in Embu County have warned politicians who consult witchdoctors during the election and campaign period that they would be excommunicated.
Speaking during an interdenominational meeting at Gakwegori Mwamba Imara NICA Church in Embu, bishops and pastors in the county said that it is in the public domain that politicians seek witchcraft to gain popularity ahead of the 2017 General Election.
Led by Bishop Silvanus Njeru of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya, the Bishops said visiting witchdoctors was going against Church beliefs.
“They not only go to diviners, they go to witchdoctors for ‘prayers’ that are contrary to the church beliefs,” he said.
The clergy said they would conduct prayers to expose those who dabble in witchcraft in the Church.
“We cannot allow the people of God to be led by such people,” they said.
