President Ruto opens Africa Climate Summit

President
William Ruto has officially opened the Africa Climate Summit (ACS) that will
take place at the Kenyatta
International Convention Centre (KICC), from September 4 to September 6,
2023.
Day one of
the summit has been branded ministerial day, where Head of States can have time
to attend various side events and the show is run by ministers.
“You have
entered the future, a future driven by global partnerships committed to African
prosperity, inclusive growth and a livable planet for all of us. This is no
ordinary summit,” Ruto said in his opening remarks.
The
president is certain that the summit will help deliver African solutions to the
COP28 climate summit that will be held in Dubai in November.
On her
part, Environment, Climate Change
and Forestry Cabinet
Secretary Soipan Tuya said the three days of the summit will help Africa to think
on ways to alleviate the crisis.
“The summit
presents opportunities for Africa to develop given its opportunities and potential
in solving challenges. We must contextualise our ability to adapt in as much as
we have challenges,” Tuya said.
