The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested three senior government officials over the alleged importation of substandard fuel.

Those in custody include Petroleum Principal Secretary Liban Mohamed, Kenya Pipeline Company Managing Director Joe Sang, and Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) CEO Daniel Kiptoo.

Authorities have also detained a fourth suspect linked to the case, although their identity has not yet been disclosed.

The suspects are reported to have spent Thursday night in custody and are currently being held at the DCI Headquarters, following their arrest by detectives from the DCI’s Operations Support Unit.

Reports indicate that DCI Director Mohamed Amin said investigations are ongoing, with officers pursuing other individuals suspected to be involved in the scheme.
