Speaking during the 11th Health Integration Summit 2026 in Mombasa, Dr Oluga called on participants to shift focus from deliberations to the implementation of concrete, time-bound interventions aimed at addressing persistent barriers to integrated service delivery.
He noted that declining donor funding presents a growing challenge to the sustainability of Kenya’s health sector, underscoring the need for enhanced local financing mechanisms to safeguard the continuity of essential services.
These include maternal healthcare, immunisation programmes, and treatment for chronic illnesses.
Discussions are centred on strengthening collaboration and advancing integrated, people-centred healthcare delivery in line with the country’s pursuit of Universal Health Coverage under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
