PS Omollo appeals for peace as students and mourners bid farewell to Elvis ‘Beast’ Otieno

Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has appealed to students and mourners attending the burial of the late Elvis “Beast” Otieno to maintain peace and calm, urging them to ensure the ceremony is not marred by incidents that could cause further pain to his family.
Omollo spoke after visiting the home of the late Otieno, where family members, friends and colleagues gathered to bid farewell to the Technical University of Mombasa student.
The PS extended his condolences to Otieno’s family and the wider Technical University of Mombasa fraternity following his death.
He also condoled with the families of two students who died in a road accident while travelling from Mombasa to attend Otieno’s burial.
Omollo said three students who were injured in the accident remain in hospital, while most of those injured have since been discharged.
He wished those still receiving treatment a speedy and full recovery, while urging mourners to remain peaceful throughout the burial ceremony.
“Nothing should be allowed to dishonour Elvis or cause further pain to his family,” Omollo said, as he called on students and other mourners to exercise restraint.
The PS urged young people to draw inspiration from Otieno’s life, particularly his commitment to education, youth leadership, community service and supporting his family.
He said Otieno’s legacy should be remembered through the positive impact he had on those around him, rather than through incidents that could undermine the dignity of his final farewell.
