Residents set suspect's home on fire over teacher’s death

The home of a suspect accused of murdering 28-year-old Beaty Wanjiru Nyaga has been set ablaze by residents in Ngucue Village, Mwea East, Kirinyaga County.
According to police, the incident comes after the discovery of Beaty's body near River Nyamindi in Mugumoini Village.
Beaty, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher at Ithiga Ria Njuki Primary School, was last seen on Monday.
The deceased’s body was allegedly dumped by her boyfriend, Peter Waweru, who remains at large.
The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), led by Kirinyaga JSS Secretary Josphat Mwendia, has condemned the killing, calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the suspect.
The case has sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding that the full force of the law be applied to bring the perpetrator to justice.
