Rising Starlets midfielder Lorna Faith has expressed confidence of overcoming Tanzania as Kenya prepares for a decisive third-round clash of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The Rising
Starlets host the first leg on February 7 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in
Nairobi, before travelling to Tanzania for the return fixture on February 14 at
the Azam Complex.
And as
preparations intensify, Lorna is confident of harvesting maximum points, thanks
to the proper training they have had so far.
“We have had a
very nice time in camp; this being the second week, and we thank Coach Jackline
Juma for guiding us well. I believe we will do well as a team in the two-leg
clash.
What motivates
me most is that on 2024 we were playing in U17 World Cup Qualifier and the
experience and team work plus the courage makes us the right candidates for the
qualifiers,” she enthused.
Lorna sentiments
were echoed by defender Diana Anyango.
“It will not be
an easy game but it will depend on how we have set our mentality. As players we
have the metal strength and the courage to beat our neighbours Tanzania.
We managed to
qualify for the U17 World Cup in 2024, and I don’t see why we should not do the
same this time with the U20.”
“We have very
good coaches and as players we will utilize what we have been taught in the
camp for better results.”
With
qualification to the next stage at stake, fans have been urged to turn out in
large numbers at the Ulinzi Sports Complex to rally behind the Rising Starlets
as they push for a place at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
