Rock python terrifies locals in Baringo county

A 14-foot long python has been rescued by Kenya Wild Life Service (KWS) from villagers who have been preying on the reptile for the past one week.
The African rock python which weighs 80 kilograms is said to have been terrifying residents in Loboi, Baringo South after it was spotted last Friday.
It took the efforts of the KWS officials to capture the reptile on Friday.
The snake was taken to Kabarnet Museums at the county headquarters.
Bernard Wasike, the museum’s Curatorial Assistant said locals who wanted to kill it after it preyed on their goats.
However, it is to be kept at the institution for more research about snakes in Baringo.
One of the residents, Veronica Kibet, said it was the first time that they were seeing such a huge snake in their area.
