Danilo Rosafio who kicks off Kenya’s Olympic medal hunt in Swimming on Tuesday at the Tokyo Aquatic Center Pool is beaming with hope ahead of the showdown, as is Emily Muteti who makes her debut on Friday.

Rosafio will compete in the 100 meters freestyle with Muteti having a go in the 50 meters freestyle category, the two being the only swimmers who are representing Kenya in this year’s Olympics.

The world’s swimming federation FINA nominated the two based on their qualification times for the Olympics, with Rosafio having scored 730 points in the World Youth Championships in Budapest, Hungary in 2019.

The US-based Muteti qualified with 698 points through the 2019 African Games in Casablanca, Morocco.

Danilo Rosafio, 20, is beaming with hope as he spearheads Kenya’s hunt for a maiden Olympic medal in swimming.

“For every meet that I go I try to improve my time and I will try to make the most of my time here and learn from the experience and make myself and my country proud.”

Rosafio trains at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom with coach Gareth McNary while Muteti swims at Grand Canyon University in Arizona.
