President William Ruto has instructed the Ministry of Interior to ensure that all administration officers undergo mandatory training that will enable the government to achieve effective service delivery.

Speaking on Monday while presiding over the graduation of chiefs and assistant chiefs at the National Police College Embakasi ‘A’ Campus, Nairobi, President Ruto noted that officers need to be equipped with appropriate skills to effectively execute their mandates.

"You must continuously educate yourselves on government programmes, ensuring that you articulate them accurately and confidently," he said.

President Ruto added that the last training was undertaken in 2016, prompting a dire need to increase training programmes to improve the process of implementing government projects.

"Every officer, chief and assistant chief, including other officers, as soon as they are hired, should not stay for more than 6 months before they come for this training," he said.

About 1,837 National Government Administration Officers graduated, and the training for another 6,000 chiefs and assistant chiefs is set to begin.

President Ruto maintained that the officers play a crucial role in strengthening the government's operations at the grassroots level.

They have played a frontline role in the implementation of the administration's ambitious Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

"You are the bridge between the State and wananchi in the remotest village, the first responders when a crisis strikes, and the daily visible face of government to millions of Kenyans," he said.

"I urge you to promote these programmes, ensure that farmers receive the services they are entitled to, resolve resource-based disputes promptly, and guarantee equitable access to inputs and opportunities."
