The Cabinet Secretary for Sports Ababu Namwamba on Tuesday presided over the Cabinet Secretary's Trophy exhibition games between Busia Combined and Junior Stars played at the Siagonjo Grounds in Busia County.

Busia Combined edged Junior Stars 2-1 with goals from Emanuel Emoite and Mephis Wandera before Austin Odongo pulled one back for the U-18 national team with a penalty conversion.

In the girls' fixture played at the same venue, Busia Combined edged Junior Starlets 7-6 on penalties after a one-all draw.

Speaking during the awards ceremony, the CS announced that more players from the Busia Combined teams will be joining the U-18 national training camp that will culminate with a trip to Spain for a two week's training camp.

"Through the Talanta Hela initiative, we have given Kenyan football new hope and now we are spoilt for choice,” noted the CS.

"I have scouts here who thought the players they had selected (for national training camp) were the best of the best but they have watched these Busia youngsters play and I have seen them scratch their heads.

"They have witnessed even more talent and we have actually selected even more talents from the Busia Combined teams to join the national training camp," assured the CS.

The national training camp comprises select junior players from the Junior Stars who took part in last year's CECAFA U-18 championships as well as players from last year's Talanta Hela U-20 national tournament.
