In a motion inked by his advocates, Senator Oketch argued that Sifuna has been holding the party's position "to blatant and arrogant violation" of ODM's constitution.
He argued that Sifuna has been deemed to have resigned from the political party after he allegedly promoted the ideology, interests or policies of another political party, violating Section 14A (1) (e) of the Political Parties Act .
Oketch further held that Sifuna has failed to observe the party's code of conduct and failed to obey lawful decisions made by the party organs.
He cited Sifuna's recent public remarks on confidential ODM affairs concerning the sourcing and dispatch of the party's funding of the 2022 presidential campaigns.
Sifuna traded explosive accusations with Suna East MP Junet Mohamed over the handling of campaign funds during Raila Odinga’s failed 2022 presidential bid, an ugly public fallout that underscores the party’s deepening crisis following Raila’s death in 2025.
"The revelation of such confidential information which is considered an internal affair greatly jeopardizes the Party's image and public standing," the motion read in part.
He went on to add that Sifuna has publicly denied ODM's involvement in the Broad-Based government arrangement, frustrating the party's efforts to further its objectives.
Based on the aforementioned claims, Oketch has called for the immediate de-whipping of Sifuna from all parliamentary leadership positions and committees that he is serving in.
He also wants ODM to initiate the process of removing Sifuna's name from the party members register, calling for necessary disciplinary proceedings against him to have him expelled from the party if found culpable.
This comes as Sifuna's political conduct has been met with harsh criticism from party members, amid split jitters within the faction, and a possible ouster from the party's leadership.
