Shabana edge Mombasa United in five-goal thriller at Mbaraki

Brian Ogutu, Kevin Omundi and substitute Derrick Oketch scored for the visitors, while Denis Toeri and Rashidi Waziri were on target for the hosts.

Mombasa United started brightly, putting Shabana's defence under pressure but failing to create clear-cut chances. The visitors gradually settled and broke the deadlock just before half-time when Ogutu beat three defenders before firing past goalkeeper Mustapha Oduor.

Shabana doubled their lead in the 59th minute after Omundi intercepted a loose ball near the centre circle, raced through the United defence and calmly beat Oduor.

Mombasa United fought back, with Toeri converting a 71st minute penalty after striker Adeyemi Mogbodemu was brought down in the box.

Substitute Waziri then headed home from a Rodger Mathew corner with ten minutes remaining to level the scores.

However, Shabana had the final say three minutes later when Oketch capitalised on a loose ball inside the penalty area to fire home the winner and secure all three points.

The result leaves Mombasa United facing further pressure after suffering their fifth defeat in six matches since earning promotion to the top flight.
